The emphasis is on FUN and movements and music will be tasteful and age-appropriate. Our innovative hip-hop curriculum is designed to educate students about regional styles of hip-hop within the USA (break, pop-lock, krump, footwork, etc.)
Fitness Dance/Zumba - Make movement and dance part of a healthy lifestyle. Material is designed to strengthen and tone the body through dance-based movement. This class is also popular for adults! Several of our instructors are Zumba-certified and can provide this service for your school or organization.
Thematic Programs - We can provide single-day or a short series to tie into special holidays and school-year themes. A few ideas include:
• Let’s Move In School Campaign: Learn the Beyonce routine!
• Latin American Heritage Month: Learn a dance from Spain or Latin America
• Halloween: "Thriller" dance workshop
• African-American History Month: Dances of the Harlem Renaissance program
• Valentines Day: Tango lesson or line dance at school sock hop
• Pep Rally or Special Event: Have the school staff or students learn a Flash Mob routine
• Reading Program: Integrate Dance Around the World lessons with popular stories such as “Flat Stanley"
(grades 1-3) or Giraffes Can’t Dance (PreK-K)
Specialty Dances - Our teaching artists have backgrounds in everything from Tap to Yoga to Folk Dance. If you have a special request, we'll pair you with a well-qualified instructor for your chosen genre.
Any of these programs can be as brief as a single-day workshop or as long as a full school year. Our in-school workshops make a great supplement to P.E., arts, and language curriculum and can be thematically related to various cultures of the world (for example, Latin American dances), periods of history (for example, Dances of America's Jazz Era: 1920s-50s), or general themes such as respect and teamwork. Workshops can be conducted with either a single instructor or a pair of instructors and can accommodate large groups as long as space permits.
